A very common question patients ask is what is fat transfer? how to make the fat survive.?.

Well the answer to that is simple.  answering the first part of the question on what is fat transfer? also called fat grafting and fat transplant, is a procedure where fat cells are extracted LIVE  using a technique called liposuction. These live fat cells are then washed and purified and then re injnected into the body as a filler. Some of the places in the body that fat can be transfered or grafted to are any fat area in the body like the face,  breasts,  butt, hips,  thighs, calfs, and others. Next we get to the second part of the question of how to make the fat survive?.  Dr Ayman Shahine has been in practice in NYC for almost 20 years now and, has performed tons of cases of fat transfer and grafting over the years at a high success rate and  high fat survival percentage. It is known that transplanted or grafted fat may not completely “take” or survive. Several factors interfere with fat survival including genetics, age of the person at the time fat is being transplanted, the health status of the the part of the body that is recieving the transplanted fat or that fat is getting deposited in, the location of the part of the body, for example a part of the body that gets more blood supply is considered a more favorable place, or a place of the body that is less exposed to pressure is considered a more favorable place. Excessive pressure on the part of the body after fat transplant or grafting, like when sitting on the butt after the transplant procedure, is not a good thing because it compresses the blood vessels in the area snd thus hinders the transplanted fat blood circulation therefore limiting the survivability of the newly transplanted fat. Two variable of the pressure determine the final survivability of the fat . 1- the time duration of the pressure. The more time  the pressure is applied the less the fat survives, and 2-the quantity of the pressure applied, the longer the pressureis applied to the ares the less the survivability of the fat. So, please DO  NOT SIT FOR PROLONGED PERIODS OF TIME  AFTER FAT TRANSPLANT TO THE BUTT.
